Infanta Elena, Duchess of Lugo, is the eldest daughter of King Juan Carlos I and Queen Sofia of Spain. She was born on December 20, 1963, in Madrid, Spain. She has a degree in English Philology from the Complutense University of Madrid and a master's degree in Education and Teaching from the University of San Pablo-CEU.
Infanta Elena married Jaime de Marichalar y Sáenz de Tejada in 1995, and they have two children, Felipe Juan Froilán de Todos los Santos and Victoria Federica de Todos los Santos. However, they divorced in 2009 after separating in 2007.
Infanta Elena has been involved in various charitable initiatives throughout her life and is a member of several organizations, including the Spanish Association Against Cancer and the Spanish Olympic Committee. She also holds several honorary positions, including being the President of the Advisory Council for the National Trust of Spain and the Vice President of the Spanish Royal Ski Federation.
She is known for her love of horses and is an avid equestrian. She has represented Spain in various international horse riding events, including the Olympics and the World Equestrian Games.
